Qatari investors see Türkiye as a safe and attractive market, with a new generation of Qatari companies especially keen to invest, Asia-Arab Chamber of Commerce founder and Chairperson Saad Al Dabbagh said at the MUSIAD EXPO 2026 trade fair in Istanbul.
"Otherwise, no one would come to an unstable market," Al Dabbagh told Anadolu, pointing to the growing number of Turkish firms in Qatar and Qatari businesspeople active in Türkiye.
Trade between Türkiye and Qatar reached about $1.3 billion in 2025, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).
Turkish contractors have undertaken 206 projects worth a combined $21 billion in Qatar, with around 250 Qatari companies having investments totaling $7.8 billion in Türkiye, spanning sectors including finance, banking, energy, logistics, media and agriculture, according to Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat.
Al Dabbagh said the two countries cooperate closely based on brotherhood, with many Turkish companies operating in Qatar and Qatari businesspeople running significant operations in Türkiye.
"This means this market is very suitable for trade. Otherwise, no one would come to an unstable market. The two countries work very closely," he said.
"I hope to see more networks and connections between Turkish and Qatari businesspeople. There are already many business groups, but we expect them to be more numerous and more active," Al Dabbagh said.
Al Dabbagh said Turkish cities stand out even in Qatari holiday choices.
"Especially the new generation and new Qatari companies love to invest in the Turkish market. They love to spend their holidays in Türkiye. This means they love Türkiye and this market very much," he said.
"Qatari investors and Qatari businesspeople see Türkiye as a country with great experience in different fields. That is why in Qatar you see major Turkish companies in different business sectors, especially trade, food, construction, medical and education," he said.
"This means there is a big market for Turkish companies in Qatar. That is why I hope to hold a fair between Qatari and Turkish companies in Qatar soon," Al Dabbagh said.
MUSIAD EXPO 2026, organized by the Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (MUSIAD), was held Sept. 23-26 at the Istanbul Expo Center, bringing together producers, brands and international buyers. Al Dabbagh said the fair grows every year, drawing participants from Asia, Africa, Europe, the Americas and the Arab world.
