The ministry’s pavilion, displayed under the slogan “Discover the heritage of Syrian railways… Join us in shaping the future of multimodal transport,” also presented the history of Syrian railways since the 19th century.

He stressed that cooperation with Turkish companies is seen as part of a strategic vision to support Syria’s reconstruction and promote sustainable development.

He added that the transport sector is a cornerstone of these efforts, and the ministry seeks to build partnership bridges with Türkiye, enhancing investment opportunities and the exchange of expertise in the coming period.

Reconnecting with neighboring countries

Syria and türkiye are taking steps to strengthen regional connectivity and streamline cross-border trade.

In recent talks between Syria and the transport ministers of Türkiye and Jordan, obstacles that have historically hindered the smooth transfer of goods and people were addressed.

Syrian Transport Minister Yarub Badr revealed plans for a memorandum of understanding with Türkiye, which would allow Syrian trucks to enter neighboring Turkish provinces regardless of technical specifications.

Trucks meeting Turkish and European standards would be permitted to reach Türkiye and other European countries, opening new pathways for trade and investment.
