Turkish electric vehicle manufacturer Togg plans to expand sales to France and Italy following its German market entry, while accelerating development of its third model, the T8X, company executives announced at IAA Mobility 2025.
The announcement comes as Togg's T10F sedan and T10X SUV both received the highest 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, positioning the brand among Europe's safest vehicles.
"We want to continue our learning from Germany by expanding to France and Italy," Togg CEO Gurcan Karakas said during a press conference at the Munich auto show on Wednesday.
Karakas revealed the company has begun work on the T8X, a smaller version of the T10X SUV, aiming to launch it faster than the typical 2.5-year development cycle.
"We've already started working on the T8X, which will be a smaller version of the T10X. Normally, such a product should be released in 2.5 years, but we're currently working to release it about 2 years earlier," Karakas stated.
The company maintains an annual production capacity of 175,000 vehicles at its Gemlik facility, employing 3,000 workers.
Togg will open pre-orders for the T10F and T10X in Germany on Sept. 29. Addressing price differences between markets, Tosyali explained that variations stem from country-specific taxes rather than factory pricing.
"How can we sell cheaper in Germany? Our factory exit price for Germany won't be cheaper than Türkiye," he said, noting that special consumption tax (SCT) amounts applied in Türkiye differ from those in Germany.
Togg Chairman Fuat Tosyali firmly denied reports of partnership discussions with Chinese or other foreign investors, addressing speculation about potential collaborations.
"We haven't had discussions to date. We don't have such a need either. We started out as five partners. We're satisfied with our situation and our partnership. There's no need to take on a new shareholder," Tosyali said.
He emphasized that while the company engages with technology suppliers globally, "especially regarding partnership, we have no discussions on a path toward partnership, and we're not open to such a thing."
Both Togg models achieved exceptional Euro NCAP safety test results, with the T10F scoring 95% for adult occupant protection and the T10X achieving 94%, placing them among the highest-performing vehicles tested by the organization.
"After the challenging tests of the new T10F and T10X, Euro NCAP experts were quite impressed," said Euro NCAP Program Director Aled Williams. "It's remarkable for a new brand's first two cars to receive 5 stars."
The T10F scored 95% for adult occupant protection, 85% for child occupant protection, 78% for vulnerable road users, and 80% for safety assist.
The T10X achieved 94% for adult occupant protection, 85% for child occupant protection, 79% for vulnerable road users, and 80% for safety assist.
Tosyali indicated that while an exit is not under consideration, a public offering should be part of the company's long-term strategy.
"It's not today, not in the very short term either, but Togg must definitely go public, offer its shares to the public, and investors from Türkiye should buy them," he said, adding that the company first needs to establish itself as successful and profitable.
The company aims to export one million electric vehicles to the European market by 2030 and expand its model range to five.
Regarding battery technology, Karakas confirmed the company is preparing for LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery implementation while continuing partnerships with leading global battery manufacturers.
"We're working with the world's best. Our preference is always to determine who the good partner is and continue our path with them," Karakas said when asked about next-generation battery chemistry.
Togg also plans to launch an agency dealership model within the next 3-5 months, starting with 5-6 locations in Türkiye before expanding nationwide and into Europe.
"We want to support hybrid work with each other. We want to open to Europe with the same logic," Karakas explained.
Lastly, addressing concerns about Chinese automotive investments in Türkiye, Tosyali welcomed fair competition while emphasizing the importance of local integration.
"Under equal conditions, we have no fear of any competition. The better one wins," he said, adding that any investor should become part of the local ecosystem and community.
The executive concluded that Togg already receives a significant demand from Germany, expressing confidence in the market despite intense competition.
