Türkiye's flag carrier Turkish Airlines has canceled several planned flights to New York scheduled for Feb. 22 and Feb. 23 due to expected adverse weather conditions in the U.S. city, the airline said.
The decision affected select services departing for New York during the two-day period, as weather forecasts pointed to disruptions that could impact flight safety and operations.
Turkish Airlines did not specify the number of canceled flights but indicated that the measure was taken in response to anticipated weather risks rather than ongoing disruptions.
Passengers can check the latest status of their flights via its official flight status page, the airline said.
Airlines often adjust flight schedules ahead of severe weather to reduce operational risks and prevent delays from cascading across their networks, especially as New York faces a powerful winter storm expected to bring heavy snowfall, strong winds, and widespread travel disruptions.
Forecasters warn that the system could dump 8 to 16 inches of snow in New York City, with wind gusts strong enough to create near-blizzard conditions and hazardous travel, particularly between Sunday night and Monday.
