Turkish bus and military vehicle manufacturer Otokar has signed an agreement with Daimler Buses and Mercedes-Benz Turk to produce the Conecto model at Otokar’s factory in Sakarya, northwestern Türkiye.
According to the disclosure filed with the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), Daimler Buses and Mercedes-Benz Turk will supply all key components and materials, while Otokar will be responsible for assembly and production services.
Preparations for the production line are scheduled to be completed by September 2026, when initial output will begin. Serial production is expected to follow in 2027.
The contract, which runs until the end of 2029, foresees a minimum of 1,400 buses to be produced during this period. Final production volumes will be determined in line with market developments.
The Conecto model, widely used in public transportation networks across Europe and beyond, will now be produced locally in Türkiye. The model has been manufactured by Mercedes-Benz Turk at its Istanbul facility since 1996.
Founded in 1963, Otokar is one of Türkiye’s leading automotive manufacturers, specializing in commercial vehicles and military equipment. The company, part of Koç Holding, produces buses, trucks, and armored vehicles, and exports to more than 60 countries. Its Sakarya plant, where the Mercedes-Benz Conecto will be produced, serves as the company’s main production hub.
