Germany recorded the highest number of overseas enterprises controlled by companies based in Türkiye in 2024, with 254 firms generating $4 billion in turnover, while the United Kingdom delivered the largest revenue contribution at $9.24 billion from 143 companies, according to official statistics.
Data published by the Turkish Statistical Institute showed that Romanian operations ranked second in turnover, producing $6.86 billion from 96 enterprises. Russia followed with $6.51 billion in revenue from 135 companies controlled by Türkiye-based businesses.
Overall, companies headquartered in Türkiye controlled 2,706 enterprises abroad in 2024, generating total turnover of $89.84 billion. This marked an increase from $84.63 billion recorded in 2023, reflecting continued growth in foreign operations.
These enterprises spanned multiple sectors, with services accounting for the largest number of firms at 967, followed by trade with 943 companies. Industrial firms numbered 506, while construction enterprises totaled 290.
Industry remained the leading contributor to overseas turnover, generating $35 billion. Trade-related enterprises followed with $33.24 billion, while services produced $12.22 billion and construction activities contributed $9.37 billion.
European Union and European Free Trade Association countries continued to serve as the main base for foreign-controlled enterprises linked to Türkiye. These countries accounted for 39.2% of the total number of enterprises and 37.1% of turnover.
Other European countries held a 19.3% share in enterprise numbers and generated 23.9% of total revenue, while Asian countries outside these European groupings represented 13.3% of enterprises and contributed 13.2% of turnover.
The figures indicated that Europe remained the central hub for Türkiye’s outward corporate presence, both in terms of enterprise concentration and revenue generation.
