Türkiye plans to reinforce its cybersecurity shield through a series of national and international exercises, with 11 drills scheduled in 2026, according to information compiled by Anadolu Agency from the Transport and Infrastructure Ministry’s 2025 Performance Program.
The program outlines the main framework of activities to be carried out in the field of cybersecurity in line with the 2024-2028 Strategic Plan.
Under the strategic roadmap, ensuring the security of all services, transactions and data in the fields of electronic communications and information technologies, as well as the systems involved in their delivery, is among the key objectives.
Within this framework, efforts continue to establish, operate and oversee data management centers to enable the use and evaluation of data produced by public institutions and organizations, municipalities, provincial special administrations and legal entities under smart transportation systems.
Authorities aim to determine implementation procedures and principles related to these tasks.
Under the national smart transportation systems architecture, the number of added or updated service packages is expected to reach 20 by the end of the year.
As part of the goal to ensure national cybersecurity, policies, strategies and targets have been defined, along with procedures and principles for public institutions and private entities.
Plans include preparing action plans, coordinating relevant activities, identifying critical infrastructure and their locations, and establishing, commissioning and auditing necessary cyber incident response centers.
The ministry also aims to develop all types of cyber intervention tools and national solutions to counter cyberattacks.
Efforts to raise awareness, provide training and increase public understanding of cyber security are ongoing, along with preparing rules and principles that entities operating in the field must follow.
In this context, 11 national and international cybersecurity drills are planned by the end of the year. The number of exercises is projected to rise to 12 in 2027 and 13 in 2028.
