Turkish company Kar’s Bonna Porcelain has decided to launch a $100 million production facility in the Burg Al Arab region of Alexandria in Egypt, with the goal of starting operations as soon as possible, Turkish Ambassador to Cairo Salih Mutlu Sen announced on the platform X on Tuesday.

Kar Porselen, a Turkish porcelain manufacturer, began as a small ceramics workshop in 1983. In 2014, the company launched Bonna, which it describes as Türkiye’s first Horeca-focused brand, combining traditional craftsmanship with a more modern production approach.

With an annual production capacity of 40 million pieces, Bonna operates across extensive facilities, including a LEED-certified logistics center in Bilecik-Pazaryeri.

According to Salih Mutlu Sen, Bonna, which he describes as a leading brand in its sector in Türkiye, is poised to be a significant asset to Egypt’s porcelain industry, thanks to its quality and capacity.

Sen also announced that the company aims to direct 90% of its products to export, while the remaining 10% will be directed to the domestic market.

Sen expressed confidence that the Egyptian authorities would provide the necessary support to facilitate the project initiated by the Turkish investor.

He noted that during his meeting with Bonna’s General Manager Erbil Askan, he received updates on the progress of the facility and shared his views on the matter.

This investment marks a significant step forward in strengthening Egypt’s position in the global ceramics and porcelain market. Once operational, the facility is expected to become a key player in both regional and international porcelain supply chains.
