Türkiye welcomed 6.97 million foreign visitors in August 2025, up 2% year-over-year, the Culture and Tourism Ministry announced on Monday.
The August results reinforced Türkiye’s position as a stable destination during the busiest month of the year, when international arrivals typically reach their peak.
Between January and August 2025, Türkiye received a total of 40.47 million visitors. Of this number, 35.48 million were foreign nationals, while nearly 4.99 million were Turkish citizens residing abroad who returned for visits.
The eight-month data reflect the continued expansion of Türkiye’s tourism sector, which the ministry emphasized has played a central role in supporting the economy and helping to reduce the current account deficit in recent years.
Russia and Germany remained the top two source markets in August. Russia sent 990,709 visitors, narrowly surpassing Germany with 989,839 arrivals. The United Kingdom followed with 638,937 visitors, while Iran and Poland ranked next.
For the January–August period as a whole, Russia again led with 4.55 million arrivals. Germany came second with 4.4 million visitors, followed by the United Kingdom with 3 million. Iran and Bulgaria completed the top five source markets.
Türkiye is aiming to generate $64 billion in tourism revenue by the end of 2025, supported by expectations of welcoming 65 million foreign visitors over the year.
