The second Cairo denim and jeans exhibition brought together 60 companies from around the world on Jan. 19 and 20 in Egypt and aimed to gather the full denim supply chain in one place.
Denimsandjeans (D&J) is a platform and international trade show specialized in the jeans industry and its related supply chains. It targets manufacturers, suppliers, and buyers within a B2B framework.
Launched in 2007 as a professional news website covering global denim industry trends and technologies, the project later expanded into organizing specialized exhibitions and events in several countries, including India, Vietnam, South Korea, and Pakistan, as well as other emerging markets.
According to remarks by the Turkish ambassador during his tour of the exhibition, 32 Turkish companies are taking part among the 60 exhibitors, highlighting the strength and prominent presence of Türkiye’s textile and ready-to-wear industry in the Egyptian market.
The exhibition organizers said the second edition of D&J Egypt was held Jan. 19 and 20 at the InterContinental Citystars Hotel in Nasr City and aims to bring all components of the denim industry together in one place, from manufacturers to technology providers and sustainability solutions.
According to Denim & Jeans’ “Why Egypt?” section, Egypt is positioned as a promising hub for denim manufacturing and sourcing for global buyers. This is driven by factors including tariff exemptions that facilitate access to European Union and U.S. markets, improvements in infrastructure, and increased investment in the apparel industry, among other elements that have heightened Egypt’s relevance to the sector.
During his tour of the exhibition, the Turkish ambassador was accompanied by the head of the Turkish-Egyptian Business Council. He met with representatives of all participating Turkish companies, spoke with them at length, and listened to their plans and future projects in the Egyptian market.
In these meetings, the ambassador learned that a number of the participating Turkish companies have already opened permanent representative offices in Egypt, signaling long-term expansion and investment. He also noted that he discussed with the head of the Turkish-Egyptian Business Council the ongoing preparations to organize upcoming business engagements bringing together business communities from both countries, intending to deepen economic partnerships and open new avenues for cooperation.
