Türkiye and Luxembourg have agreed to establish a Strategic Finance Working Group to boost bilateral cooperation in finance, trade, and innovation, Türkiye’s Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek announced following high-level meetings in Luxembourg on Wednesday.
Simsek met with Luxembourg’s Prime Minister Luc Frieden and Finance Minister Gilles Roth during an official visit to the country, which is recognized as one of the world’s leading financial centers. He described Luxembourg as a key economic partner for Türkiye, particularly in areas tied to capital markets and international investment.
In his post on X, Simsek said the two sides are committed to expanding and deepening cooperation across multiple sectors. These include digital innovation, sustainable finance, industrial production, and the modernization of the Türkiye–EU Customs Union — a foundational agreement governing trade relations between Türkiye and the European Union.
As part of their strategic dialogue, the two countries agreed to form a Strategic Finance Working Group aimed at exploring joint investment and business opportunities, not only bilaterally but also in third countries. The initiative is expected to identify new cooperation areas and serve as a framework for developing mutually beneficial financial projects abroad.
Simsek expressed his appreciation for the warm hospitality shown by Luxembourg during his visit, calling the talks a meaningful step in strengthening economic and institutional ties between the two nations.
