Türkiye’s agricultural production value rose to $74 billion in 2024, increasing 7% from the previous year and placing the country among the top seven agricultural economies globally, according to the World Bank.
The data showed consistent upward trends in agricultural output across several emerging markets, representing increased production capacity and year-on-year growth in countries such as Indonesia, Brazil, Pakistan, and Türkiye.
In the global rankings, China remains the largest agricultural economy, with an output of approximately $1.27 trillion in 2024. India follows with $639.8 billion, while the United States ranks third at $248.4 billion. Other emerging economies in the top tier include Indonesia with $176.1 billion, Brazil with $121.6 billion, and Pakistan with $87.8 billion.
Türkiye’s rise to seventh place places it just ahead of Mexico, which reported $69.8 billion in agricultural production, and well ahead of the Russian Federation and Iran, which recorded $59.6 billion and $56.8 billion, respectively.
In his X post, Türkiye's Agriculture and Forestry Minister Ibrahim Yumakli attributed the growth to the country’s farmers and agricultural producers, emphasizing that Türkiye has surpassed the $70 billion threshold in agricultural output for the first time.
Yumakli highlighted that this is the highest figure ever recorded for the country’s agricultural sector, positioning Türkiye among the top seven producers globally. “This record belongs to our producers and industrialists. I congratulate them for their efforts,” he said. He also expressed optimism about the sector’s future, stating, “Together, we will achieve many more successes.”
In 2024, cereals and other field crops formed the largest share of Türkiye's agricultural output, with a total production of approximately 75.5 million tonnes. Vegetable production followed at 33.6 million tonnes, while fruits, beverages, and spice crops accounted for 28 million tonnes.
