Electric vehicle charging in Türkiye consumed approximately 90,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity in July, the highest monthly total on record, according to data released by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK).
The July figure reached 89,947 MWh, a 97% increase from the 45,605 MWh recorded in the same month last year. Compared with June, consumption rose 24%, the authority's data show.
Nationwide, some 3.3 million charging transactions were completed at charging stations throughout the month, the figures indicate.
By the end of July, Türkiye had 46,665 charging points, of which 20,461 were DC fast chargers, representing approximately 44% of the total network. Those DC points, however, accounted for 84.9% of all electricity consumed during July.
Fast-charging stations handled 79.1% of all charging sessions. Approximately 65% of the month's 3.3 million transactions, roughly two out of every three, were conducted at stations holding YEK-G green energy certificates.
The number of charging points rose from 12,084 at the start of 2024 to 26,462 by early 2025 and reached 46,665 by the end of July this year, a near fourfold increase over a two-and-a-half-year period.
AC chargers currently number 26,204, while DC units total 20,461, according to the authority's latest count.
Geographically, charging demand remains concentrated in major metropolitan areas. Istanbul alone accounted for roughly 23% of total EV charging consumption in July.
Ankara, Izmir, Bursa and Antalya followed. Together, these five provinces consumed approximately 45,311 MWh, more than 50% of the national total for the month, according to the EPDK.
