Türkiye’s export unit value index rises 4.7% in July, import index up slightly

Türkiye’s export unit value index rose by 4.7% year-on-year in July, while the import unit value index increased 0.4%, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) said Friday.

The export unit value index posted annual gains of 10.5% in food, beverages and tobacco, 0.9% in raw materials excluding fuel, and 4.7% in manufacturing excluding food, beverages and tobacco. Fuels, however, recorded a 6.1% decline.

The export volume index increased 6% compared with July 2024. Within categories, it fell 9.1% in food, beverages and tobacco, but rose 4.6% in raw materials excluding fuel, 17.9% in fuels, and 9.6% in manufacturing excluding food, beverages and tobacco.

Imports edge higher

The import unit value index rose by 0.4% year-on-year in July. Food, beverages and tobacco were up 11.2%, and manufacturing excluding food, beverages and tobacco rose 1.4%. Raw materials excluding fuel fell 5.6%, while fuels dropped 8.8%.

The import volume index climbed 5% on the year. It decreased 2.3% in food, beverages and tobacco and 1.9% in raw materials excluding fuel, while rising 7.6% in manufacturing excluding food, beverages and tobacco and 6.5% in fuels.

Seasonally adjusted data

Seasonally and calendar-adjusted figures showed the export volume index rose from 150.6 in June to 157.5 in July, a 4.6% monthly increase. On a calendar-adjusted basis, the index was 146 in July 2024 and rose 6% to 154.7 this July.

The import volume index fell 5.2% month-on-month, from 130.3 in June to 123.5 in July. Compared with a year earlier, the index increased 5%, from 123.5 to 129.7.

Türkiye’s terms of trade — calculated by dividing the export unit value index by the import unit value index — rose from 88.4 in July 2024 to 92.2 in July 2025, an increase of 3.8 points.
