Türkiye's Treasury and Finance Minister, Mehmet Simsek, will co-chair the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Board of Governors Meeting on Thursday as part of his ongoing investor meetings in London.
The agenda of the meeting includes the approval of the bank’s Strategy and Capital Framework for the 2026–2030 period. Participants are also expected to decide on the inclusion of new countries from sub-Saharan Africa as eligible borrowers as part of the bank’s regional expansion plan.
On the first day of his visit to London, Minister Mehmet Simsek participated in the “Türkiye Investment Outlook” panel on Wednesday, organized by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The event drew strong attendance from international investors, policymakers, and business leaders. In his remarks, Simsek addressed recent macroeconomic developments in Türkiye and outlined the government’s reform agenda, emphasizing the country’s potential as a reliable destination for long-term investment across key sectors.
Following the panel, Minister Simsek held a series of high-level bilateral meetings with senior counterparts.
He met with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov, Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat, and the United Kingdom’s Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves. Discussions focused on deepening economic ties, enhancing trade volumes, and identifying new areas for sectoral cooperation.
In addition to these meetings, Simsek also engaged with top executives from the EBRD and the European Investment Bank (EIB), where the parties exchanged views on strengthening financial collaboration and expanding institutional partnerships in support of Türkiye’s economic priorities.
