Türkiye’s hospitality sector saw a significant boost in April, with licensed accommodation facilities recording a total of 16.27 million overnight stays, the Culture and Tourism Ministry announced.
The overall occupancy rate of accommodation facilities holding operating or simple licenses climbed to 41.12% in April, up from 26.79% in March.
This figure also reflects a year-over-year improvement. In April 2024, the occupancy rate stood at 39.74%, suggesting a modest but meaningful rise in traveler activity compared to the same period last year.
Of the total overnight stays in April, 10.33 million were made by foreign visitors, while domestic guests contributed 5.94 million nights. This represents a notable increase from 14.63 million total overnight stays recorded during the same period last year.
The average length of stay also inched upward, rising from 2.44 days in April 2024 to 2.48 days this year, indicating improved visitor engagement with destinations across the country.
In terms of visitor numbers, a total of 6 million people were hosted at accommodation establishments throughout the month. This included 2.96 million foreign guests and 3.05 million domestic travelers. The balanced distribution of foreign and local tourists points to sustained interest both from international markets and from within the country.
The data shows that Türkiye’s tourism industry continues to close the gap with pre-pandemic performance levels.
