Turkish industrial group OYAK plans to open a 100-hectare agricultural chemicals production complex in Uzbekistan in 2027, bringing together Turkish, Uzbek and Omani capital as it seeks to expand its industrial footprint across Central Asia.

The Hektas Asia LLC facility, planned for the Uzbek-Turkish Organized Industrial Zone in the capital Tashkent, will manufacture advanced agricultural chemicals and plant protection products, positioning Uzbekistan as a regional production and export base.

The planned complex will cover approximately 100 hectares and establish a production and supply infrastructure designed to serve Central Asian markets.

Beyond manufacturing, OYAK expects the facility to strengthen Uzbekistan's domestic production capacity and contribute to regional food security by expanding the supply of agricultural chemicals and plant protection products.

The project brings together OYAK, Uzbek investors and Oman through a partnership with UzOman Investment Company.

OYAK General Manager Murat Yalcintas described the arrangement as an example of international capital coming together around a single industrial project, adding that the partnership reflected investor confidence in Uzbekistan.

"While interest from the Turkish business community in Uzbekistan increases every year, Uzbekistan offers significant opportunities through its investment environment, commitment to reforms and regional position," he told Anadolu Agency.

"We aim to contribute to regional food supply security, strengthen local production capacity and support Uzbekistan's goal of becoming an important export hub for Central Asian markets," Yalcintas noted.

He added that the investment represents OYAK's broader ambition to establish permanent production facilities across Turkic republics and expand its regional operations.

Central Asian investment push gains momentum

OYAK is also involved in a broader investment initiative targeting production, industry, and infrastructure projects across Central Asia and the Caucasus.

The Central Asia and Caucasus Private Equity Fund was established through cooperation between China's sovereign wealth fund, the Oman Investment Authority, Uzbekistan's Fund for Reconstruction and Development, and OYAK.

Yalcintas highlighted the fund's potential to provide long-term capital for industrial and infrastructure investments across the region.

He added that the emerging investment ecosystem, which includes Uzbekistan, could support Central Asia's economic transformation while strengthening commercial ties between participating countries.

Türkiye and Uzbekistan have increasingly expanded their economic cooperation, with OYAK expecting investment, industrial production, logistics, and food security to remain key areas of collaboration.
