Türkiye's main stock index gained ground Monday, climbing 1.54% as investors drove the benchmark BIST 100 to close at 11,468.07 points.
The Borsa Istanbul index added 173.59 points from Friday's closing level, marking a positive start to the trading week despite opening slightly higher at 11,533.23 points before settling lower by day's end.
Trading remained active throughout the session, with the index fluctuating between a daily low of 11,452.91 points and a peak of 11,540.66 points.
The session saw widespread gains across the market, with 77 stocks advancing while only 22 declined compared to the previous close. The BIST 100's total market capitalization reached approximately 10.65 trillion Turkish liras, equivalent to $258.4 billion at current exchange rates.
Daily trading volume hit 165.2 billion Turkish liras, or roughly $3.99 billion, indicating strong investor participation in Monday's session.
As markets closed, the US dollar traded at 41.3720 Turkish liras, while the euro reached 48.7340 liras. The British pound was valued at 55.8965 liras. Gold prices stood at $3,726.90 per ounce, and Brent crude oil was trading around $65.95 per barrel as of 6:20 p.m. local time.
