Türkiye-based automotive manufacturer Tofas has reached a new agreement with Stellantis Europe S.p.A. to export 230,000 units of its upcoming K0 light commercial vehicle to North America as part of its 2024–2032 production plan.

According to the company, the total production target for the K0 model stands at about one million vehicles throughout its lifecycle.

Nearly $450M investment allocated for North America expansion

The K0 vehicle, which will be manufactured at Tofas’s plant in Bursa as part of an agreement between Stellantis and Tofas in November 2024, is being adapted to meet North American regulatory and technical standards.

To support this process, Tofas’s Board of Directors has increased the total investment allocated for the project from €256 million to €386 million ($448.61 million).

The K0 project represents a strategic expansion of Tofas’s export destinations, which have historically focused on Europe and nearby regions.

The company aims to diversify its portfolio and enhance its competitiveness by entering the North American market.

According to data from the Uludag Automotive Exporters' Association, Türkiye’s commercial vehicle exports reached $4.7 billion in the first nine months of 2025, rising 14% year-on-year.

Shipments were received in 86 countries and autonomous regions, with the United Kingdom remaining the top destination and Germany ranking second.

Popular Egea model extended through 2026

In parallel with the K0 agreement, Tofas and Stellantis have decided to extend the production of the Tipo—known in Türkiye as the Egea—until June 30, 2026.

The model, which has been one of the best-selling compact cars in the domestic market and a consistent export performer for the company, will continue to be produced at Tofas’s Bursa facility.

The extension involves amendments to the existing production contract with Stellantis Europe S.p.A., ensuring that the current model remains in production while new product lines are prepared for transition.

The continued manufacture of the Tipo/Egea is expected to help sustain employment levels and maintain output capacity at the Bursa plant during the rollout of new projects.
