Türkiye's Zero Waste Foundation and London Climate Action Week (LCAW), one of the world's leading city-scale climate platforms, signed a cooperation protocol to strengthen international collaboration on climate action, zero waste, and the circular economy.
The foundation's statement said that Zero Waste Foundation President and COP31 High-Level Climate Champion Samed Agirbas and Climate Action founder and chief executive officer Nick Henry signed the protocol.
The agreement aims to raise the international visibility of zero waste and circular economy approaches within the global climate action agenda, strengthen the exchange of knowledge and experience among international stakeholders, and support joint projects between the two organizations.
The zero-waste approach, pioneered by Zero Waste Movement founder and Zero Waste Foundation Honorary President Emine Erdogan, who also chairs the United Nations' Zero Waste High-Level Advisory Board, has expanded globally and gained further prominence as Türkiye prepares to host the COP31 United Nations climate conference.
Türkiye's COP31 process is led by COP31 President and Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change Murat Kurum, with resource efficiency, waste reduction, and circular economy development listed among the effort's priorities alongside broader climate action.
Agirbas thanked Henry for the cooperation. "I hope that, following this cooperation protocol, we carry out strong work together and organize joint events at COP31 and London Climate Action Week.
I look forward to your participation at Istanbul Zero Waste Week next year," Agirbas said, according to the statement.
Henry described the partnership as a strong starting point for future collaboration.
Founded in 2019, LCAW brings together governments, cities, businesses, financial institutions, academic institutions, civil society groups, and local communities in London to develop climate action partnerships across sectors.
This year's edition ran from June 20 to 28 and covered topics including energy transition, climate finance, resilience, innovation, cities, circular economy, and sustainable production and consumption models.
The Zero Waste Foundation took part in LCAW 2026, presenting its work at a dedicated stand and featuring Agirbas as a speaker at multiple sessions during the event.
Under the protocol, the two organizations plan to develop joint programs, expand international awareness of zero waste and circular economy practices, and bring together stakeholders from different sectors, with the aim of linking LCAW's climate network with the foundation's international zero waste work.
