The 33rd International Adana Golden Boll Film Festival announced the winners of its National Feature Film Competition at a ceremony in Adana, a city in southern Türkiye near the Mediterranean coast.
Ten films competed. The festival is organized by the Adana Metropolitan Municipality.
"Alone Together" ("Bir Arada Yalniz"), directed by Ali Vatansever, received the Best Film Award. Vatansever also won the Best Director Award, while Fatih Al was named best actor and Onur Gozeten received the Promising Young Actor Award for the same film.
The ceremony took place at the Cukurova University Congress Center. Guests walked the red carpet before entering the venue.
Volkan Severcan and Julide Ates hosted the event, which included a tribute to prominent figures of Turkish cinema who died this year.
In the opening speech, Acting Metropolitan Mayor Gungor Gecer said the festival is the result of 60 years of work and thanked those who have supported it over the years.
Festival Executive Board Chair Menderes Samancilar thanked those who contributed to the organization. Deputy Governor Hasan Balci also attended.
"Mutter: A Mother's Memory Notebook" ("Mutter: Bir Annenin Hatira Defteri") won four awards.
Hazar Erguclu received the Best Actress Award, Ozkan Karakose the Best Cinematography Award and Mesut Ulutas the Ayhan Ergursel Best Editing Award.
The Best Art Direction Award went to a team of 11 that includes Saye Ozcelik, Gulseren Cizdan and Melike Yilmaz.
"Those Who Whistle in the Dark" ("Karanlikta Islik Calanlar") won the Best Screenplay Award for Pinar Yorgancioglu and Emre Gulcan, and the Best Music Award for Alican Camci.
"Daylight" ("Gunyuzu") collected three awards: the Yilmaz Guney Award for Banu Sivaci, the Best Supporting Actress Award for Asena Hotamis and the Best Supporting Actor Award for Suleyman Kadim Kabaali.
"Monster" ("Canavar"), directed by Tunc Sahin, received the Adana Audience Award. "Trendy Marriage" ("Moda Evlilik"), directed by Mirac Atabey, won the Kadir Beycioglu Jury Special Award, and Ege Damatoglu from the same film received the Turkan Soray Promising Young Actress Award.
The Film Directors Association (Film-Yon) Best Director Award was shared by Yorgancioglu for "Those Who Whistle in the Dark" and Vatansever for "Alone Together".
The Cinema Writers Association (SIYAD) Cuneyt Cebenoyan Best Film Award went to "Dead Dogs Do Not Bite" ("Olu Kopekler Isirmaz"), directed by Nuri Cihan Ozdogan.
The ceremony also presented awards to the winners of the International Short Film, National Student Films, National Artificial Intelligence Short Film, National Short Film, Literature Adaptation Feature Screenplay and National Documentary competitions.
Award recipients and presenters posed for a commemorative photograph at the end of the event.
