Production begins for HBO’s long-awaited Harry Potter reboot series

HBO describes the show as “a faithful adaptation of the beloved 'Harry Potter' book series by author and executive producer J.K. Rowling.”

Each season will focus on one of the seven books. The series is set to premiere in 2027 and will be available on HBO and Max in select countries, including Germany, Italy, and the U.K.

Casey Bloys, HBO CEO, said the new version will allow “more space to explore the plot lines from the books,” which were condensed in the original films.

New Hogwarts Express joins production of 'Harry Potter' series

In a nod to the original films, a restored steam locomotive named Wightwick Hall will serve as the Hogwarts Express.

The train was rescued from a scrapyard and restored over 40 years by volunteers at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre.

It replaces Olton Hall, the engine used in the original movies, and will be used in filming for about six months.

When and where to watch HBO’s new 'Harry Potter' series in Türkiye

The "Harry Potter' reboot will stream in 2027 exclusively on HBO and Max.

In Türkiye, Max is the official provider for HBO content, including “Harry Potter”, “The Last of Us”, “Dune”, and upcoming series like “IT: Welcome to Derry” and “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”.

For viewers in Türkiye, Max is currently the only legal way to watch the upcoming series. The platform also includes the original “Harry Potter” films, allowing fans to revisit the franchise before the new adaptation launches.

While fans will have to wait until 2027 for the first episode, the decadelong series promises a deeper, more detailed adaptation of the original novels.

The reboot has the potential to introduce the wizarding world to a new generation with a cast that blends new faces and veteran actors, a rebuilt Hogwarts Express, and streaming access now available in Türkiye and beyond.
