The ancient city of Tralleis, located in the Efeler district of Aydin, is expected to open to visitors this August. As restoration and excavation efforts intensify, local and national media representatives recently visited the site to observe the ongoing work.
During the tour, the excavation director, Professor Murat Cekilmez of Aydin Adnan Menderes University, provided insights into the progress made at the archaeological site.
Professor Cekilmez explained that the restoration is part of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's "Heritage for the Future" initiative. “We aim to uncover the sides of the marble street,” he said. “Once tourists begin visiting, they will be able to walk on the original marble avenue, just as it was centuries ago.”
The excavation team is working intensively to ensure the site is ready to welcome tourists by August.
Firat Barisik, the founder of the company sponsoring the excavation, expressed his satisfaction in contributing to such a meaningful cultural effort. “As someone in the tourism industry, we are proud to support an excavation that will enrich the region's heritage,” he stated.
