Israeli television producer Dana Eden, co-creator of the hit series Tehran, was found dead in a hotel room in Athens on Monday, according to Israeli media reports.

Eden, 52, had been in Greece with her production company to film the show’s fourth season. The company said in a statement that speculation about nationalist or criminal involvement in her death is unfounded.

Greek outlet Proto Thema reported that Eden had been staying at the hotel since Feb. 4 and was discovered by her brother. The reports said bruises were found on her neck and limbs, and that pills were located in the room.

Greek authorities do not rule out the possibility of a suicide.

Iranian regime labels it as an anti-Iran series

The hit Israeli espionage thriller Tehran draws international attention for its tense portrayal of covert operations inside Iran.

Created by Moshe Zonder and first aired in 2020, the series follows a young Mossad hacker sent on a dangerous mission to disable Iran’s nuclear defenses, only to find herself trapped in the hostile capital.

The movie features many anti-Iran scenes, and is deemed a fearmongering, propaganda series to embolden anti-Iran sentiments in Israel. However, the series has been praised for its nuanced depiction of both Israeli and Iranian characters. The show streams globally on Apple TV+ and has earned critical acclaim, including an International Emmy Award.

Hard-line Iranian-aligned media such as the Kayhan newspaper have labeled it an “anti-Iranian production
