Bad Bunny has claimed his first-ever Emmy Award, taking home outstanding variety special (live) for his Super Bowl Halftime Show performance.
The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show swept seven trophies in total, among them outstanding variety special (live), with Bad Bunny honored both as performer and producer.
The haul broke the record for the most Emmys won by a Super Bowl halftime performance, surpassing the four earned by the 2022 Super Bowl LVI show starring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, and 50 Cent.
The show also picked up wins for music direction, choreography, sound mixing, lighting design, technical direction/camerawork, and directing.
Jay-Z, one of the show's executive producers, earned his third career Emmy.
During his Emmy-winning performance, Bad Bunny drew on his catalog of hits, including "Titi Me Pregunto," "Eoo," "Baile Inolvidable," "El Apagon," "Cafe Con Ron," "Monaco," "Nuevayol," and "DtMF," while weaving in a love story and honoring his Puerto Rican heritage on the global stage.
The show closed with a call for unity amid political tensions in the U.S., as Bad Bunny was handed a football reading "Together, we are America" while flag bearers representing countries across the Americas walked behind him.
He told the crowd, "God bless America," before naming nearly every country in the Americas one by one, and declared, "We're still here," a phrase he has often used in reference to Puerto Ricans resisting displacement on the island.
As he spoke, the message flashed across the stadium's big screen, "The only thing more powerful than hate is love."
