Frustration rises among Blackpink fans just days before the group's 10th anniversary, with many taking to social media to criticize what they call a disappointing lead-up to the milestone.
The backlash comes despite an announcement from YG Entertainment, the group's agency, which revealed through Weverse on August 6 that Blackpink will hold a special 10th-anniversary meet-and-greet in Seoul, South Korea, on Aug. 8.
The event will be limited to just 40 fans selected by lottery, with the exact time and location withheld until winners are notified. All four members have since been confirmed to attend.
The eligibility requirements also sparked controversy, as only users who had purchased a paid annual Weverse membership by July 31 were allowed to apply.
The fan event's venue is the National Museum of Korea, though the specific location inside remains unfinalized while YG and the museum coordinate details.
A 10th anniversary holds particular weight in the music industry, where most groups disband before reaching that milestone.
