A group of Hollywood luminaries and producers has joined "The Voice of Hind Rajab," a Gaza-set drama, as executive producers ahead of its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
Hollywood heavyweights Brad Pitt, Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara, Alfonso Cuarón, and Jonathan Glazer have signed on as producers after being impressed by a recent cut of the film.
The director of the movie is Tunisian director Kaouther Ben Hania, known for blending documentary and fiction, whose previous films—Four Daughters and The Man Who Sold His Skin—were also Oscar contenders.
The film will premiere in competition at Venice on Sept. 3 before making its North American debut at the Toronto International Film Festival.
It will then screen at the San Sebastian, Busan, and London film festivals this fall.
This year’s Venice Film Festival is set against the backdrop of the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Among other high-profile public figures to have joined the project as executive producers are journalist-turned-producer Jemima Khan, Canadian businessman and former Lionsgate founder Frank Giustra, and jewelry designer and socialite Sabine Getty.

The film The Voice of Hind Rajab recounts the real-life tragedy of January 2024, when six-year-old Hind Rajab was killed by Israeli forces along with several relatives as they attempted to flee Gaza City in a car.
Medics tried for hours to save her, but it was too late.
After 12 days of lost contact, the bodies of Palestinian girl Hind and several members of her family were found in their car in Gaza’s Tal al-Hawa neighborhood, a tragic reminder of the toll of the ongoing conflict.
The incident sparked global protests, including at Columbia University, where students renamed Hamilton Hall as Hind’s Hall.
The film shows the real voice recordings between Rajab and Red Crescent volunteers who tried to keep her on the line, desperately attempting to send help.
Venice head Alberto Barbera has previously said he believes the film will be among those to “most impress audiences and critics” at the festival, which gets underway today.
Tunisia has selected "The Voice of Hind Rajab" by Kaouther Ben Hania as its official submission for Best International Feature Film at the Oscars.
The announcement was made on Thursday by the National Center for Cinema and Image, just two days after Hollywood heavyweights, including the producers of the movie.
