Czechia will not take part in the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest after its public broadcaster decided to pull out amid ongoing budget adjustments.
Czech Television announced the decision on Tuesday, saying financial considerations had led it to step away from the next edition of the international song competition.
The broadcaster said Eurovision represents a large-scale project that brings together substantial programming, production, and organizational requirements.
"In light of the ongoing budget adjustments, Czech Television has decided not to participate in the 2027 edition," the broadcaster said.
The decision applies specifically to the 2027 contest, with Czech Television indicating that its participation in future editions will be considered separately.
Czech Television stopped short of setting out a timetable for a possible comeback, saying it evaluates participation on an edition-by-edition basis.
"We assess each edition of the competition separately, and therefore do not want to speculate at this point about when Czech Television will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest again," the statement said.
The Eurovision Song Contest is an annual international music competition involving participating broadcasters from different countries.
