The 1987 cult film "Dirty Dancing" will meet Istanbul audiences in a concert-screening format on Oct. 17, as Dirty Dancing in Concert comes to Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open-Air Theater.

Organized by Piu Entertainment, the production brings together a giant-screen screening of the film's digitally renewed version with a live music performance.

A band and vocalists will perform the film's well-known songs in sync with the scenes, turning the screening into a combined cinema and concert experience.

Cult romance returns with live performance

Starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, "Dirty Dancing" remains one of cinema's best-known romantic music and dance films. The Istanbul event will allow viewers to follow the story of Baby and Johnny while the soundtrack is performed live on stage.

The production has drawn interest internationally with its format, which combines a full film screening with a concert setting. After the screening, a special section will allow the audience to carry on with some of the film's popular songs.

Award-winning soundtrack still stands out

"Dirty Dancing" earned more than $214 million at the global box office, while its soundtrack also achieved major success.

The song "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" won the Academy Award for Best Original Song, becoming one of the film's most recognizable elements.
