Egyptian Cabinet spokesperson Mohamed el-Homsany announced that the opening ceremony will witness unprecedented participation from world leaders.

Homsany explained, during a phone interview on Al-Hayah Egyptian TV on Tuesday, that no fewer than 40 heads of state, kings, and prime ministers are expected to attend, in addition to a large number of ministers and senior officials from various countries.

"The opening ceremony will be organized at the highest levels of professionalism," he stressed.

He noted that United Media Services is making major efforts in preparing for the event in coordination with all state institutions to ensure it reflects Egypt’s stature and ancient civilization.

Homsany added that preparations are in full swing inside the museum and in the surrounding area, in addition to the establishment of new traffic routes to facilitate movement.

He noted that the ceremony will surpass the level of organization of the Royal Mummies Parade, which captivated the world.

Preparations for opening day

The committee, led by Deputy Civil Aviation Minister Montaser Manaa, inspected Cairo and Sphinx airports to ensure readiness for receiving delegations attending the museum’s opening.

The Four Seasons Nile Plaza Hotel in Cairo announced, through its official social media pages, that it will participate in preparing the official food for this historic event, with a selection of world-class chefs specializing in cuisine and banquets. The hotel said it aims to present Egypt to the world through unparalleled taste, precision, and elegance.

TikTok announced a partnership with the Grand Egyptian Museum authority to livestream the historic opening ceremony via TikTok Live next Saturday, allowing audiences in Egypt and around the world to follow the event.

Largest archaeological museum in the world

The Grand Egyptian Museum is considered the largest archaeological museum in the world dedicated to ancient Egyptian civilization, according to the Encyclopedia Britannica.

The museum covers approximately 120 acres near the Giza Pyramids, housing more than 100,000 artifacts—some well-known to the public and others never before displayed. The encyclopedia notes that the project was designed to serve as a global hub for showcasing the treasures of ancient Egypt, reflecting the evolution of the civilization across the ages.

Located near the Giza Pyramids, the museum houses thousands of rare artifacts—most notably the treasures of King Tutankhamun, which will be displayed in full for the first time in one place.

The Ministry of Tourism announced the temporary closure of the museum from Oct. 15 to Nov. 4, 2025, as part of final preparations and arrangements for its official inauguration on Nov. 1.
