Renowned Turkish rock band Athena has canceled its upcoming concert in London after some members were unable to obtain UK visas in time.
The concert was scheduled for Saturday, May 31, in the British capital.
According to Turkish media outlet Kisa Dalga, the band submitted visa applications ahead of the event, but several members were denied entry.
The organizing company confirmed the cancellation, citing unresolved issues with the visa process. In a statement, organizers said all required documents had been submitted properly, but the visa process had not been finalized. As a result, the concert was canceled.
Visa-related difficulties are a longstanding issue for Turkish citizens traveling to European countries. Many face significant challenges when applying for visas, where the process is often lengthy, with strict documentation requirements and high rejection rates.
One recent such example involved Italy, where nearly 1,000 Turkish students accepted into top Italian universities encountered delays and rejections in obtaining their visas.
