The fourth Fethiye International Film Festival has begun in Fethiye, a district of Mugla province in southwestern Türkiye.
Held with the support of the Culture and Tourism Ministry’s General Directorate of Cinema, the Fethiye Municipality, the Fethiye Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Fethiye City Council, and led by the Fethiye Photography and Cinema Art Association (FEFSAD), the festival has brought together film lovers from different cities across Türkiye.
Film lovers gathered at the Ozgecan Monument on the seafront and walked to the Ozer Olgun Cultural Center in Beskaza Square, accompanied by the Fethiye Municipality Marching Band.
The festival was first held on Dec. 7-10, 2023, with 35 film screenings and five events. The second edition took place on Nov. 20-24, 2024, and the third on Nov. 5-9, 2025, with all screenings and events free of charge.
Festival Committee member and FEFSAD President Canan Tor said that screenings will open with Pelin Esmer’s film “O da bir sey mi” (“Is that even something?”).
Stating that the festival is screening-focused rather than competition-focused, Tor said: “Our festival features short films, feature-length films, short documentaries and feature-length documentaries. 85% of our directors are here, and we will screen roughly 80 films.''
''About 70 of our directors have arrived and are in Fethiye, and some will come tomorrow. We have directors in our festival who have won awards at festivals in Türkiye. These are very valuable to us,” she added.
Tor said the festival, which also includes guests from five countries, will end on Nov. 8.
