Italian-Turkish director Ferzan Ozpetek’s newest cinematic work, Diamanti (Diamonds), has been awarded the coveted "Film of the Year" title at the prestigious Nastri d’Argento (Silver Ribbon) awards in Italy.
This recognition, voted on by film critics and journalists, underscores Ozpetek’s continued influence in European cinema.
The Nastri d’Argento awards, one of Italy’s most respected film accolades, celebrated Diamanti as the standout production of the year.

Earlier in May, Diamanti also captured the special audience award at another major Italian event, the David di Donatello awards, reflecting both critical and popular appreciation.
Diamanti features a star-studded Italian cast including Luisa Ranieri, Jasmine Trinca, Stefano Accorsi, Paola Minaccioni, Geppi Cucciari, Kasia Smutniak, and Mara Venier.
The film tells the poignant story of a group of women working in a large tailor’s shop in Rome during the 1970s, exploring themes of friendship, resilience and empowerment.
The film was released in Italy in December 2024, captivating audiences with its authentic period detail and emotional depth.
