George and Amal Clooney have evacuated their home in Brignoles, France, as wildfires continue to spread across France, Spain, Italy, and Greece.
The couple lives in the town, located in France's Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region, with their 9-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella.
The actor and human rights lawyer confirmed the evacuation in a letter to Brignoles Mayor Didier Bremond, expressing uncertainty regarding whether their property would survive the devastating wildfires.
The couple highlighted two key priorities as they fled the area: wishing for the safety of the local residents and affirming their long-term dedication to the town.
They emphasized that regardless of the damage to the village, they remain deeply attached to Brignoles and their friends there, pledging to actively help rebuild and restore the community.
"We love Brignoles and our friends who live there."
The wildfires burning across France are now four times the size of Paris, according to the Associated Press.
Roughly 224,000 people have been evacuated from France's Gironde region, with another 3,000 evacuated in Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, and at least 63,152 people evacuated in Spain, CNN reported.
George and Amal Clooney built a quiet life on their farm in the French countryside, far from Hollywood's cameras. The couple made the property their primary residence and were granted French citizenship in December 2025, along with their twins.
Clooney has said the move allowed his children to grow up away from constant media attention, and that the family considers the property—though they also maintain residences in Italy, England, and the United States—their happiest home.
This week, as the wildfires drew close enough that staying was no longer an option, George and Amal packed up and left, just like hundreds of their neighbors.
This is not the first time fire has threatened the Clooney estate. A fire broke out near George and Amal Clooney's £8 million ($10.71 million) estate, known as Domaine du Canadel, in Brignoles on July 11, 2025. The blaze was quickly contained within a neighboring solar park before it reached the couple's property.
Twenty firefighters, five trucks and two water-bombing helicopters responded to the blaze. The cause remains undisclosed, and the Clooneys have not commented on the incident.
The Clooneys have remained close to the Brignoles community since buying the estate. George once recorded a New Year's video message thanking Mayor Didier Bremond for the town's hospitality.
