Grammy-winning electronic music luminary Black Coffee recently graced the stage in the Serik district of Antalya, delivering an unforgettable performance at the Cullinan Belek hotel in the renowned Belek resort area. For nearly two hours, he wove together vibrant African rhythmic textures with the sophistication of jazz and the pulsating energy of house music.
Born in South Africa in 1976, Black Coffee has ascended to electronic music icon status, celebrated for his evocative, exotic melodies and a devoted following that spans the globe. His resilience is equally extraordinary, in 1990, he lost the use of his left arm after being struck by a taxi while celebrating Nelson Mandela’s release that rammed into the crowd he was part of. Undeterred by this life altering event, he continued to pursue his passion using only his right arm.
In a remarkable feat of endurance and artistry, Black Coffee performed for 60 continuous hours during an event in Soweto an extraordinary one-handed DJ set that captured international attention. Though some sources dispute its official recognition, the performance remains a powerful testament to his perseverance and creativity.
His musical reach extends well beyond the decks. Black Coffee’s sixth studio album 'Subconsciously' released on February 5, 2021, is a masterful tapestry of collaborations with global superstars Pharrell Williams, Usher, Diplo, David Guetta, Ry X, Celeste, Sabrina Claudio, Msaki, Sun-El Musician, Una Rams and others. The album's rich diversity earned him the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 64th Grammy Awards.
Looking ahead, Black Coffee is set to perform in Istanbul on October 11, 2025, at Zorlu PSM – Ana Tiyatro. This concert is part of his ongoing international tour, which has included shows at major global venues. Tickets for sale on Bubilet as of August 29.
