Greek Culture Minister Lina Mendoni visited Cappadocia's historic and cultural sites after the 1st Türkiye-Greece Culture Forum, which was organized to boost cultural cooperation between the two countries.

The Tourism Development Agency said Mendoni toured the region after meeting with Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and joining the forum's program. She began her visit at Pasabaglar, a site famous for its unique rock formations.

After Pasabaglar, Mendoni visited the Church of the Virgin Mary and the Kaymakli Underground City, stopping at several important landmarks in the region. She was joined by Gozde Sahin, who leads the European Union and External Relations Department, and Cem Aslanbay, head of the Cappadocia Site Management Office.

During her visit, Mendoni saw Cappadocia's fairy chimneys up close. These geological formations are considered some of the world's most impressive natural structures. She also learned about current efforts to protect and preserve the area.

The 1st Türkiye-Greece Culture Forum is a formal step toward building stronger cultural ties between the two countries. Cappadocia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, attracts millions of visitors each year and has long been a symbol of shared history and heritage in the eastern Mediterranean.
