Istanbul has taken a significant step toward becoming a smart city with the launch of its "Digital Istanbul" project, which introduces QR code information panels to 597 historic mosques across the city.
These panels offer multilingual information on the historical, cultural, and architectural aspects of the mosques, providing a digital guide to visitors.
As part of the project's first phase, the Istanbul Governorship, in collaboration with Ziraat Katilim, has installed QR code information panels at the entrances of 597 historic mosques.
The panels provide detailed written and audio information in five languages: Turkish, English, German, Russian, and Arabic.
This initiative aims to make the city's cultural heritage more accessible to both local and international tourists.
Following the completion of the first phase, the project will soon enter its second phase, covering 226 historic mausoleums in Istanbul.
These sites will also be equipped with similar QR code information panels, offering multilingual details about their history and architecture.
The 'Digital Istanbul' project aims to provide digital guidance for anyone wishing to explore the city’s cultural heritage.
By scanning the QR codes, visitors can access accurate, fast, and easily understandable information about the cultural properties they visit.
The official website, www.dijitalistanbul.org, offers further information about each site, making it a valuable resource for those planning their visits.
The QR code panels are designed to be readable from a distance of up to 60 meters, ensuring easy access for visitors.
