Fans of the iconic "Star Wars" saga will soon have the chance to experience one of the franchise’s most memorable films with a live orchestral score in Istanbul.
"Star Wars: Return of the Jedi in Concert" will take place on May 3 at Volkswagen Arena, where audiences will watch the film while a full orchestra performs the original soundtrack composed by John Williams.
The concert combines a full screening of "Return of the Jedi," the third film in the original "Star Wars" trilogy, with a live symphonic performance by the Istanbul Film Orchestra conducted by Timothy Henty.
During the event, the orchestra will perform the entire musical score in synchronization with the film’s scenes. The performance recreates the cinematic experience by blending the movie’s visuals with live orchestral music.
Audiences will watch the story of Luke Skywalker’s confrontation with Darth Vader and the final battle against the Galactic Empire while the orchestra performs Williams’ iconic compositions in real time.
The film will be screened in its original language with Turkish subtitles.
John Williams’ music has played a defining role in the "Star Wars" series since the first film premiered in 1977. His score for "Return of the Jedi" remains one of the most recognizable orchestral soundtracks in modern cinema.
Organizers have also encouraged fans to attend the concert in themed costumes and accessories inspired by the "Star Wars" universe.
Events that combine film screenings with live orchestral performances have become increasingly popular worldwide, offering audiences a chance to experience well-known films in a concert setting.
The Istanbul performance will allow fans to revisit a key chapter of the original trilogy while hearing its music performed live by a symphony orchestra.
