Istanbul’s historic Emek Stage at Grand Pera will host a series of distinguished musicians and special concerts throughout April.
The program features a mix of classical music, contemporary Turkish compositions, and popular film scores.
The month begins with local musicians and performances shaped by literary and mythological themes.
On April 3, viola artist Baris Kerem Bahar and pianist Senka Simonovic will perform "A Viola Dream." The duo will present a repertoire made up entirely of works by Turkish composers.
Later in the month, literature and music will meet on the same stage.
On April 26, the venue will honor the memory of Atilla Tiknaz. Violists Beste Tiknaz Modiri and Baris Kerem Bahar will perform "Two Violists in Pera," accompanied by pianist Gulnare Shekinskaya.
The concert includes works by contemporary Turkish composers such as Melisa Uzunarslan, Recep Gul, Evrim Demirel, Gizem Alever, and Tayfun Demirbas, along with arrangements by Atilla Tiknaz.
Grand Pera will also host modern interpretations of popular music and international classical repertoire.
The "Candlelight" concert series will take place on April 4 with two sessions:
On April 28, flutist Zeynep Kelesoglu and pianist Gokhan Aybulus will present "Between Contrasts." Their program includes works by Beethoven, Prokofiev, and Liebermann.
The month will conclude with a performance by world-renowned flutist Vincent Lucas. On April 30, Lucas will bring "Elegance Parisienne" to the stage, presenting a colorful repertoire of French music.
The final concert will also include the world premiere of "Surreal Carnival of Parody," a work by composer and flutist Halit Turgay.
