Kutahya, a city in western Türkiye known for its Ottoman and Seljuk-era heritage, hosted the Traditional Turkish Archery Championship for the minikler (youngest) and yildizlar (junior) age categories.
The open-air competition, held at the Kutahya Archery Field's Traditional Turkish Archery Facilities, brought together approximately 500 archers from provinces across Türkiye. Competitors in the youngest and junior age brackets aimed at targets to secure a place in the standings.
Kutahya Governor Musa Isin addressed the opening ceremony, thanking the Turkish Traditional Archery Federation for choosing the city as the event's annual host. Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Kutahya deputy Ismail Caglar Bayirci also spoke, addressing the importance of sports activities for young people.
Turkish Traditional Archery Federation President Cengiz Toksoz said the federation places particular emphasis on the youngest and junior categories. Kutahya Directorate of Youth and Sports provincial director Bulent Kucuk also addressed the ceremony.
Among individual results, Elif Oyku Deniz of Istanbul's Ofok Sports Club and Kerem Mutlu of Bursa's Aticilar Traditional Archery Sports Club won gold in the 8-9 age category for girls and boys, respectively.
In the junior girls' category, Ayse Reyhan Akman of Ankara's Geleneksel Sporlar Sports Club took the title, while Ismail Bicici of Hatay's Payas Education Sports Club won the junior boys' event.
In team competitions, clubs from Istanbul, Adana, Ankara and Bursa claimed championships across the youngest and junior age divisions. Medals and trophies were presented to the winning athletes at the close of the event.
