KATSEYE singer Lara Raj paired a canary-yellow Loewe dress with Indian accessories, including a gemstone bindi and a streak of red sindoor, at her Paris Fashion Week debut Friday.
Raj, sat in the front row at Loewe's spring-summer 2027 womenswear show alongside bandmate Megan Skiendiel. It was the first Paris Fashion Week appearance for both, according to W Magazine.
Raj's styling centered on traditional Indian jewelry and adornment. She wore a bindi of ruby and white gemstones and stacks of gold anklets, known as payal.
The Free Press Journal, an Indian news outlet, also described a gold maang tikka, a forehead ornament, a nose pin and silver jhumka earrings. The most noticeable detail was the red sindoor along her hair part.
Sindoor, the red powder worn along the hair part, is most often tied to marriage in Hindu tradition, though its significance varies across communities and occasions.
Many social media users praised her for showcasing Indian heritage on a global fashion stage.
Raj has made her South Asian heritage a recurring part of her public style. She has also said it shaped her goals as a pop artist. Growing up, she said, she lacked an Indian pop star to look to in Western music, and she decided she would have to become that figure herself.
"I never had an Indian pop star that I could look up to in Western music. I always knew that if I wanted that, I have to be that for the little girl inside of me," Raj said.
Raj and Skiendiel attended the show during a break in the group's Wildworld tour, which resumes Oct. 13 in Miami after the European leg wrapped in mid-September.
