The Mersin State Opera and Ballet (MDOB) has staged Lucia di Lammermoor, one of the most celebrated works by Gaetano Donizetti, offering audiences a classic example of Romantic-era opera at the Mersin Culture Center.

A tragic love story set against Scotland’s misty backdrop

The production brings to life a story of doomed love unfolding in the misty valleys of Scotland. This setting frames the emotional intensity of the narrative while guiding the audience through a dramatic and tragic arc.

The artistic direction of the production was led by conductor Andrea Francesco Solinas, while the choir was prepared by Anil Aydin, ensuring a cohesive musical performance throughout.

Stage direction was handled by Alexander Nikolic, who brought together the various elements of the opera to shape a unified stage experience.

At the same time, the visual aspects of the production were carefully constructed, with set and costume design by Hatice Kapti contributing to the period atmosphere, while lighting design by Dursun Tari Deniz helped reinforce the emotional tone of each scene.

Strong solo, ensemble performances drive production

The MDOB Orchestra and choir took part in the performance alongside a cast of soloists, including Ecem Aricasoy Yazoglu, Bulent Bezduz, Faik Mansuroglu, Hasan Berk, Gulcin Altas, Alp Akca and Kerem Yaman.
