At the World Cup celebration, Ludacris reminded fans that the Fast & Furious series is still going. Known for his role as Tej Parker, he hinted at the next movie during his performance at the Michelob ULTRA Pitchside Club launch on Thursday at the Santa Monica Pier.
During his set, Ludacris performed 'Act a Fool,' his single from the 2003 film 2 Fast 2 Furious, which was his first appearance in the franchise. Before starting the song, he spoke to the crowd: 'If we got some Fast fans, then when I say, Act a, y'all say, 'Fool.' He then asked his DJ to take everyone back to 2 Fast 2 Furious and added, 'Fast [11] on the way!'
This comment matches an announcement from February, when Universal said the next film will be called Fast Forever and would be released in theaters on March 17, 2028. Vin Diesel, the star of the franchise, also celebrated the news at that time.
Comedian and actor Kevin Hart hosted the event and introduced Ludacris to the stage with high praise. 'He's a friend, he's a brother, and I'll say it again, he's an icon,' Hart told the audience. Hart also shared his excitement for soccer, saying, 'I'm becoming a big fan of the sport, so I'm honestly really thrilled to be here tonight.'
Ludacris performed hits from his 26-year music career and mentioned that his first Def Jam album came out in 2000. DJ Pee . Wee, also known as Anderson. Paak and Disco Lines also performed at the event.
The Michelob ULTRA Pitchside Club, a free social space for soccer fans, is open from June 12 to 25.
