Marmaris Municipality hosted China’s Ambassador to Ankara, Jiang Xuebin, as Türkiye and China marked the 55th anniversary of their diplomatic relations with a cultural program in the Aegean resort town.
Held at the Marmaris Municipality Culture and Art House under the “Colorful Marmaris” vision, the event focused on strengthening cultural and diplomatic ties at the local level.

The program included the opening of the “Colors of Marmaris and China” photography exhibition, as well as a visit to Jinan Park, a symbol of sister-city relations between Marmaris and Jinan in China.
Marmaris Mayor Acar Unlu said the municipality aimed to promote the town in China not only through sea and sun tourism, but also through its culture, nature, art and living energy.
He also noted that Marmaris’ ties with China had gained momentum through the sister-city agreement signed in 2011. Unlu said the municipality would carry out a special event in February to mark Chinese New Year.
Chinese Ambassador Jiang Xuebin said local cooperation helped strengthen the foundations of diplomatic relations. He described Marmaris as a special destination that could draw attention from Chinese people with its natural beauty and hospitality.
Xuebin also said cultural, people-to-people and ecological cooperation should be deepened, adding that both sides should work together to protect green nature and build a more sustainable future.
The program continued with musical performances by Turkish and Chinese artists, the screening of the work “Wedding on the Mugla Coast,” prepared in China, and the presentation of the “Colorful Marmaris” sign at Jinan Park.
