Netflix Türkiye series “Ethos” (“Bir Baskadir”) returns with its second season on Nov. 12, the streaming platform announced.
Written and directed by Berkun Oya, the new season consists of four episodes. Oyku Karayel, who played Meryem in the first season, leads again.
The season was filmed last year and arrives six years after the debut.
Netflix listed the second season among its Turkish series planned for 2026, according to entertainment site What’s on Netflix.
The first season premiered on Nov. 12, 2020, with eight episodes. Its cast included Karayel, Defne Kayalar, Fatih Artman, Funda Eryigit and Nur Surer.
The story followed people from different social classes and lifestyles whose paths crossed in Istanbul, Türkiye’s largest city. Meryem, a cleaner from a low-income, conservative family on the city's outskirts, was the central character. She consults a psychiatrist named Peri, played by Kayalar, from a wealthy and secular background.
The series prompted online debate in Türkiye on prejudice and social divides, according to AFP. Some conservative media outlets called for censorship, while the series also drew support on social media, according to the French outlet Mediterranee Audiovisuelle.
