Oscar-winning musician Glen Hansard will perform in Türkiye for the first time, giving concerts in Istanbul and Ankara this November.
The acclaimed Irish singer-songwriter will take the stage at Zorlu Performing Arts Center (Zorlu PSM) in Istanbul on Nov. 11 and at MEB Sura Hall in Ankara on Nov. 13.
Both concerts are organized by Piu Entertainment.
Hansard began his musical journey on the streets of Dublin in the early 1980s, performing for passersby before forming the band The Frames in 1990. The group quickly rose to prominence and became one of Ireland’s most influential rock acts.
Their albums Fitzcarraldo (1996) and Burn the Maps (2004) brought them national recognition and the opportunity to share the stage with legendary musicians such as Bob Dylan.
Hansard achieved international fame through the 2006 film Once, in which he played the lead role.
The movie’s standout track, Falling Slowly, won the Academy Award for Best Original Song, cementing his status as a major artist on the global stage.
Once was later adapted into a Broadway musical that went on to win eight Tony Awards, one of theater’s highest honors.
Building on his success, Hansard released several solo albums, including "Rhythm and Repose," "Didn’t He Ramble"," and "This Wild Willing," each accompanied by worldwide tours.
He has performed at some of the world’s most prestigious venues, such as Carnegie Hall in New York and the Sydney Opera House, captivating audiences with his emotionally charged performances.
