Le Trio Joubran, one of the leading ensembles of Palestinian music, performed at CSO Ada Ankara in the Turkish capital as part of the “International Palestine Solidarity Concert - A Call for Peace to the World” (“Uluslararasi Filistin Dayanisma Konseri - Dunyaya Baris Cagrisi”).
The trio, made up of Palestinian brothers Samir, Wissam and Adnan Joubran, played at the venue’s Ziraat Bankasi Main Hall for Ankara audiences.
The concert was organized to strengthen solidarity with the Palestinian people and to present the universal values of peace through art.
The pieces performed focused on themes of peace, freedom and the hardships experienced by the Palestinian people.
The Joubran brothers are from Nazareth and descend from four generations of oud makers and players, according to the Sharjah Art Foundation. The oud is an Arabic lute.
The group formed in 2004 to accompany the late Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish at live readings, according to The National.
After Darwish died in 2008, the trio continued with its own albums, including songs inspired by his poetry. The group describes itself as the first trio of oud players.
Its sixth album, “The Long March,” was released in 2018 and includes the track “Carry the Earth,” co-written with former Pink Floyd member Roger Waters.
