A new image from the upcoming “Peaky Blinders” sequel series has revealed Charlie Heaton as adult Charles Shelby, marking a new chapter for the Shelby family after the recently released film “The Immortal Man.”
The six-episode series, which has not yet been given an official title, will expand the “Peaky Blinders” universe by shifting attention from Tommy Shelby to the next generation of the family.
Heaton, best known internationally for playing Jonathan Byers in “Stranger Things,” will take on the role of Charles Shelby, the son of Tommy Shelby.
The sequel will pick up after “The Immortal Man,” the film in which Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby storyline came to a close. Rather than centering on the original crime boss, the new production will follow the younger members of the Shelby family as they step into the foreground.
Jamie Bell will also appear in the series as Duke Shelby, Charles Shelby’s stepbrother. The character of Duke had previously appeared in the film, where he was portrayed by Oscar-winning actor Barry Keoghan.
Heaton’s casting brings him from the 1980s-set mystery atmosphere of “Stranger Things” into the crime world of the 1950s, where the new “Peaky Blinders” story will unfold.
The project is expected to continue the legacy of one of television’s most recognized period crime dramas, while reshaping the story around the family members who come after Tommy Shelby.
