World-renowned pianist and composer Fazil Say took the stage at Volkswagen Arena with his traditional year-end concert organized by ACM Production, where he captivated audiences with the Türkiye premieres of his works “Mother Earth” and “Mozart and Mevlana.”

The concert opened with Mother Earth, a piano concerto drawing attention to the global climate crisis, performed by Say together with the Fazil Say Festival Orchestra under the baton of Nil Venditti.

Venditti noted that the world premiere of the work had taken place six months earlier and described it as a seven-movement composition employing a wide range of orchestral and pianistic colors.

Fazil Say highlights growing environmental risks

In remarks delivered on stage, Say stated that the consequences of climate change and environmental degradation have reached critical levels, citing increasing drought, natural disasters and forest fires worldwide.

He added that the work was conceived as part of an international awareness effort and has begun to be performed regularly on global concert platforms.

Fazil Say speaks on stage about uniting the timeless and universal voices of Mevlana and Mozart in his new work, noting that “Mevlana lived 800 years ago and Mozart 300 years ago, this timelessness needed to meet at a common point. Istanbul, Türkiye, December 27, 2025. (AA Photo)

Timeless dialogue between East and West

The second half of the program featured the Türkiye premiere of Mozart and Mevlana, which Say described as bringing together the “timeless and universal voices” of the two figures.

“Mevlana lived 800 years ago, Mozart 300 years ago,” he said. “I believed this sense of timelessness should converge at a common point, especially in an era when East and West must extend a hand of friendship.”

The work was performed under the direction of Nil Venditti and chorus master Volkan Akkoc, with soloists and the Fazil Say Festival Orchestra and Choir.
