Rod Stewart, the British singer, said Sunday that his 2027 tour of arenas in the United Kingdom and Europe will be his last, bringing to an end more than six decades on the road.
The 81-year-old's The Final Encore tour opens at Dublin's 3Arena, a concert venue, on April 23, with later stops in Belfast, Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester and London.
Following further dates across Europe, the tour is scheduled to conclude at the ZAG Arena in Hanover, Germany, on July 24.
"My dear friends, the time has come to say farewell to life on the road," Stewart said in a statement. He thanked audiences for making his career possible and promised fans "one hell of a show."
Stewart said he was not retiring from music altogether, leaving open the possibility of occasional concerts and other performances after his final full-scale tour.
Two shows at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado remain scheduled for September 2027, after the formal tour concludes. The concerts were postponed from June 2026 because of inflammation affecting Stewart's vocal cords.
The farewell announcement follows a difficult period for Stewart's live schedule. He canceled the remaining dates of his US One Last Time tour in August after undergoing what his representatives described as a routine coronary stent procedure, in which a small tube is placed in an artery to keep it open.
His team said at the time that the procedure had been successful and that Stewart's recovery was progressing well.
Stewart began performing as a teenager and was already traveling through Europe in the early 1960s with folk musician Wizz Jones.
He later moved between several groups, including Steampacket and Shotgun Express, before gaining wider recognition with the Jeff Beck Group and Faces.
His solo career took off with the 1971 album "Every Picture Tells a Story," which included the hit "Maggie May." He went on to release songs including "Sailing," "Tonight's the Night" and "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?"
Stewart has achieved 11 UK No. 1 albums, with his most recent chart-topper coming in 2024 through "Swing Fever," his collaboration with pianist and bandleader Jools Holland.
Tickets for The Final Encore are due to go on general sale on Oct. 2, following a fan-club presale, a sales period open to fan-club members before the public sale, beginning Sept. 29. British musician Howard Jones will support Stewart during the U.K. and Ireland concerts.
